HISTORY:
Chika was born as a product of a affair between his parents. His father was of a sub-were fox clan, (known as Ninkharsag) and a high profile business man, and his mother was a diplomat's wife and werewolf whose bloodline was claimed to be of a sub clan, the Allta, also known as the Wolves of Ossory. However, her bloodline was considered diluted; her family claim went back to the Crusades era. Though there had been known breeding to other werewolves after her ancestor's journey from Ireland to the Holy Land, his mother could not change her form at all, and instead went through a mental change during every full moon. In the belief that neither wolf nor fox gene would be passed on, they gave Chika up for adoption in the United States (where incidentally most of their affair took place). Deducing that Chika did not take after his mother, it would be best that his mixed heritage was not seen nor guessed by their spouses. It would mean not only a divorce, but a possible outbreak of war. Both were content with the status quo, and did not wish to disturb it. If they thought Chika took after his mother, they might have kept him. Instead, they left him, thinking he would have a better life and be taken in by a wealthy family.
Instead, Chika grew up with a strange name given by the state, and in a series of foster homes. Some were kind; some were not. He tended to be bounced around to state to state, when one home did not work out for one reason or another; sometimes his foster parents were reported for their behavior, or they could no longer take care of him or the other children in the household. Some were just meant to be temporary. And while he went from home to home, he suffered from bullying, fighting, anger and depression. It was difficult childhood, and not surprising that he did not think over much of academics. Gym and shop class were his best subjects as he grew from childhood, to youth.
Around the time he was twelve, he started to notice changes. He had odd dreams of forests and chasing prey, and itches. He would get muscle cramps at the oddest times, or feel tension if he stayed inside cramped spaces for too long. His appetite increased five-fold, and as puberty hit, the more out of his skin he felt. As he hit high school, he started to experience violent mood swings, to the point where he scared himself. His group homes and foster homes weren't any help. Neither were doctors, who claimed it was puberty.
Things started to go very bad far too fast as he went into drugs to manage his moods, and gangs, to finance his addiction. It didn't go very well, spiraling into more violence and more problems. If things had been left as they were, he would have met a violent end. Instead, unknown to him, a local philanthropist of sorts named Maksim Ainsile arranged for Chika to be fostered at his place at age seventeen.
It was a rocky start, to say the say the least. Rumor had it that Maksim had connections to the Russian mafia and hid drugs within his house. Chika thought he could feed his addictions this way, if not by hocking off some of Maksim's things to the pawn shop. Things did not turn out that way. Shortly after moving in, there was a confrontation, and Chika ended up falling on top of a collection of silver coins. One of them pressed into his broken skin, and long story short, he needed to be rapidly shipped to hospital. Maksim, though not a shape shifter himself, had connections to the semi underground clan community, and had grown up around shapeshifters. It was partially due to this that he had requested for Chika's foster age. He could see the signs of a werewolf nearly ready for his first shift, and having no one local to turn to, took on the responsibility himself. Maksim told Chika about this, and while there was some denial and struggles to ensure continued fostering within Maksim's home, Chika eventually accepted it. He also went through drug rehabilitation, though there were some near slips and bad nights along the way.
Six months after Chika met Maksim, he had his first change into a werewolf. It was painful, thrilling experience, and Chika could feel the pieces fall into place. He wasn't crazy, and all of the tension had been building up towards this. Somehow through all of this, Chika managed to finish high school. The options of what to do from there were mixed, and while he felt much more willing to get along with his foster father-he even started referring to him familiarly-He started taking part time jobs so he could save up. With some unasked for backing from Maksim, Chika eventually went backpacking across North America, Europe and Asia in an attempt to get answers about himself and what he was. The process took some time, where he met many people on the way, and he learned how to better control himself and his changes. When he came back to the Ainsile house finally, he had come to the conclusion that either his biological parents were completely stupid, or did not realize what a risk they'd posed, having a werewolf child in the system. At least Chika found a network of contacts, if not a family.
After some struggling and arguments on what to do for the next part of his life, Chika, at age 21, took technical training as a electrician, and through his mid twenties worked as a helper while going to school. After the required working hours had passed, Chika took the test for licensing, and by some miracle, obtained it. In the seven years that followed, Chika obtained work as an electrician working under a number of different companies. He was able to save up for a small house of his own, and tried to pay back a little to Maksim and the network he made during his backpacking tour. Mostly in the form of money, but other forms as well, in between his working hours. He had partners in his life on and off, unaware of the political upheaval until he saw the videos on the internet and reports on the news the year previous, when he was 31. The clans had been outed, very publicly and very suddenly; the public had a mixed review, and Chika now felt the pressure of hiding what he was in own community and not knowing how it would fall out with his friends overseas.
It is coming less and less often on the news, but he still has little to no idea on what will happen. Politics will take his course and shape his life, no matter if he wants it to or not.
PERSONALITY:
Chika, if nothing else, is a never ending fountain of snark in a pleasing package. Given a chance, Chika will have something to say, and it will not necessarily be bad. But in the highest likelihood, he will open his mouth and make a cynical or a humorous comment. The compelling reason for this is sadly simple: he doesn't trust people. Chika is a man who grew up making snap judgments on who was safe, who to be wary of, and who to avoid. It's not logical, but emotional, based on what his gut. Sometimes it's wrong, and sometimes it's right. But it's a habit, and one he's not one to break anytime soon.
He's aware of how rude he can be, or a number of other tactics he makes in order to gently (or not so gently) push a person he does not like (or trust, as it can mean one and the same).This does not mean he is not respectful, in certain ways. Chika can and will be respectful, even apologetic when proven wrong about someone, for the better or worse. Even when he isn't entirely polite, there are some things that he does try to be mindful of. He tries to keep people from feeling boxed in, for one thing: if he can, he will keep himself mindful of not getting too much into anyone's space, unless invited. He tries to keep anyone from being blocked from the exit or at least feel that they can't leave. This applies too to flirtation, and the like-he enjoys it, and will make his jokes and teases, but they are just words. There's no reason to expect any follow through on anything, unless there's the desire is there. A joke is a joke, a flirt is a flirt, and it should, in his eyes, be anything else.
Hence why Chika tends to be rather laid back, for all of his grumbling. If there is no real action to follow, there's nothing solid to hold up what he's saying. It's a harmless way to let off steam for him, and a round of swearing can do a world of good for him. More so if he's allowed to run for awhile as a wolf; then he's agreeable and just plain mellow.
Still, there are some things that will make him testy, if not outright angry. Having control wrestled away from him or the people he cares about gets him from his usual laid back moods to snarling, form bristling and promising violence. The Mauve sisters are slightly dubious in this regard, and while he can speak of them amiability enough-he's (mostly) referred to them as 'ladies' without sarcasm- the nature of their arrangement with him and the others leave him to pause and wonder at it all. It could make him sulk, grump, or worse, pose for a more violent confrontation.
Hopefully, Chika will pause and hold himself in check before it happens. He's not completely without wit, but he's not a genius either. Which, to Chika, is fine; from what he's seen and heard, geniuses tend to be too self involved, too arrogant, and unable to function well socially.
Chika enjoys getting laid far too much to become a genius.
He does best when dealing with objects instead of people, working for hours on a project to ensure it works to perfection. Even if it breaks down, he tends to be methodical, careful, knowing when to stop when he realizes whatever he is working on is either too much for him, or needs to be worked at in another angle he did not consider. He's far more patient when it comes to being physical. Far too often, he can't bring himself to sit still during a conversation; he's restless, moving to and fro, slowly. If he's working on something with his hands, he's less likely to squirm around during a conversation. He's not much for reading though; oral instruction would be better for him, and easier for Chika to process.
In general, Chika can be a bundle of contradictions, but once aware of where he stands with a person, it's pretty simple for him to deal with them. It might change, much as he loathes it, but mostly he'll make it obvious if he likes a person, or hates them.
ABILITIES:
Electrician: Chika is a certified electrician, able to work in construction and maintenance of electric work in his own world.
Shapeshifting: He is able to turn into a wolf. This is not dictated by moon phases. It is best that he turns into a wolf ( which will look like a regular wolf with black fur with a scattering of white fur on his muzzle, face, and chest and amber eyes) on a weekly basis. His body would force the change if he does not change and stay in that shape at least two hours every ten days. At eleven days (unless he's been grievously injured or ill, speeding the process), he would be moody, experiencing painful cramps, and losing focus on every day tasks, as well as being ravenous. On the fourteenth day, his body would force the change spontaneously.
Should he change on a weekly basis, he would have better control over his body and mind, less likely to attack anyone during this time. He would also be able to do a partial shift (for example claws or wolf tail) should he be allowed to change complete shape back and forth. Doing partial or full shifts can be an exhausting process if done too much at once. An apt comparison would be, say, asking an athlete to do a triathlon after they've gone through a 300 meter race. Can be done, but they'd be ready to drop and need to recharge after.
It should also be noted as he was born, not cursed, he cannot pass on loupism to other people.
Senses/General body: Generally is a bit stronger and faster than expected for his size, sees somewhat better in the dark, and smells a little more sensitive. However it is somewhat trained, his sense of smell; it's more sensitive to the scent of rot in food, if nothing else.
Healing/regeneration: It fluxes with the moon phases. While the moon is full, his healing is at full capability; and he can heal from bruises in minutes, cleanly broken bones in days, if not hours, if given enough food and rest. However, complications can arise if the fractures aren't clean breaks, same with strains. As well, as the moon darkens, so does his healing ability. By the time the moon is a sliver, he has the same healing capability as a regular man. A lunar eclipse can make things just weird. It's unknown at this time if he could regenerate a limb if it were taken off.
SINS:
Envy: He wishes a lot for things he can't, or doesn't have. Often the sense of family, families themselves and similar topics make Chika resentful and sulky, at best grinding his teeth and switching the topic. Though when he loves, he loves deeply, he's yet to make a conventional family of his own. One of his deeper fears is that he's not capable of being part or making a conventional family of his own.
Wrath: He's not a happy person. Normally he has a better grip on his temper than he did in his youth, having an outlet in the way of his shapeshifting, but he can be snarky, mistrustful, and unintentionally cruel. If he doesn't like the person he's talking to, he can be snappy and short tempered, not to mention rude
Pride: He's a werewolf, and that naturally makes him better than normal humans. His senses are better, he's stronger, and he's good looking. What else does he need?
Gluttony: His metabolism makes him hunger for food, but his desire to learn how to do something related to objects-whether it music or something mechnical-he'll forget about eating.
Greed: When he finds out something that can make his life easier (at least career wise) he is all over that and trying to figure out how to use it for himself.
Lust: ....yeah he flirts with whoever he likes and pretty heavily if he can. And if the person is willing, he's all about taking them somewhere and having a lot of fun together.
